Seeing the fact that our immune system is the only defence we have at this moment during the corona crisis, I would like to give you some nice yoga lifestyle tips to boost your immune system.
Of course you need to protect yourself by distancing from others, washing your hands regularly and take care of a good personal hygiene, but we can do more than that. Ancient vedic knowledge will help us with that.
First of all it is very important to have no stress: because stress lowers the function of our immune system. Meditation is the best remedy to become calm, have inner peace and be relaxed. Best is to meditate during the hours 4 and 8 in the morning and afternoon.
Have good nights sleep, take good care of yourself and do exercise during the day, like walking after having food. Yoga and pranayama are very important to do in the early morning to have perfect balance in your energy centres or chakra’s (which are providers of fresh prana or energy to all our organs and physiologic functions). Go outside and be in nature often. Eat healthy Sattvic food and drink a lot of warm water during the day.
In an earlier blog I explained about some Ayurvedic remedies to strengthen the immune system, like drinking warm water with lime in the morning and drinking fresh ginger tea during the day. Turmeric, moringa, tulsi, cinnamon and cumin are important herbs to strengthen the immune system according to ancient vedic science.
Today I started my breakfast with some lovely vegan turmeric milk, which is an amazingly strong immune system booster. The original Ayurvedic recipe is with cow milk, but I made a vegan version with plantbased milk: Boil hazelnutmilk with one teaspoon of turmeric, 1/4 teaspoon of ground black pepper, one cinnamon stick, 1 cm of grated ginger and one teaspoon of coconut oil. Stir while boiling. Add honey and filter before serving. Drink this mindfully, slowly, in a relaxed position but straight back, slow breathing, eyes closed: the taste is amazing and you’ll feel the healthy natural medicine enter your body and do its work.
The mind is very strong: what we think becomes true. So it is always good to do some affirmations like: ‘I am strong. I am healthy. My immune system is very strong and functions perfectly; it keeps out all micro organisms that are not good for my body. My body is clean and healthy. I take good care of myself. I am protected. I love my healthy body, mind and soul’.
Stress comes from fear and we experience a lot of that during this corona outbreak, but remember that what we feel from the inside we attract form the outside: where we focus on increases. Keep focussing on your good health, keep being in the moment and enjoy nature, meditation and healthy food. Love your lifestyle and be convinced that whatever happens, your body is strong enough to handle it. Trust our own nature and our natural self healing ability which we’ve all received by birth: it is part of who we are. We can heal from this!
Stay healthy, stay safe. Namasté
